Competition Requirements and Judging rules 2010

Age Groups: 8-9 years, 10-11 years, 12+

Eligibility

Gymnasts who have not competed in a 4 piece competition at a county ‘National level voluntary level 4’ or above and who have not competed in the current BDP Grades. Open to gymnasts who do not train more that 4 hours a week.

County Qualifier

Gymnasts may enter 1, 2, 3 or 4 pieces of apparatus. The top 4 on each apparatus, in each age group will go through from their county qualifier to the regional final.

Coaches requirements

For this competition only, coaches must hold a minimum of General Gymnastics Club Coach Award (Level 3 coach) or Women’s Artistic Assistant Coach Award (Level 1 Coach)

Vault

Requirement

Handspring from 2 feet to flat back

8-9 years - 2 sections of the box

10-11 years – vaulting table at lowest height or 3 sections of the box

12+ years – vaulting table at 1.10m or 3 sections of the box

Gymnasts in the 10-11 or 12+ age group have the option of one or two springboards

Two attempts may be performed with the best vault to count

D Score – vault tariff 1.40

E score – take total penalties from 10.00

Final Score – D score plus E score

Circle upwards to front support with legs together and straight

Cast – into back hip circle

Cast – into push away

Cast penalties

0.10° below horizontal – no penalty

Between 30° and 45° below horizontal – 0.10

More than 45° below horizontal – 0.30

D Score 2.50 (5 elements as above, each worth 0.50)

E score – take total penalties from 10.00

Beam

Requirements

Exercise below in set order

  1. Jump to front support, swing leg over beam to straddle sit, optional exit to stand
  2. Half turn on 2 feet in standing position
  3. Half turn on 2 feet in squat position
  4. Forward roll to stand
  5. Half spin on 1 foot
  6. Arabesque
  7. Tuck jump
  8. Walk to end of beam and straddle jump dismount

D Score - 4.00 (8 elements as above, each worth 0.50)

E score – take total penalties from 10.00

Final Score – D score plus E score

All execution and artistry penalties as per the 2010 code of points

Minimum time limit 30 seconds – maximum time limit 60 seconds – penalty for either under or overtime 0.10

Extra steps, dance movements etc may be used to enhance the routine

Floor

Requirements

Choice of 8 elements in a voluntary routine – the 8 elements must be selected from either the list below and / or any A valued elements listed in the 2009 FIG Code of points – No saltos or aerials are allowed.

  1. Handstand forward roll
  2. 2 Cartwheels linked
  3. Splits (any way)
  4. One handed cartwheel
  5. Backward roll (optional exit)
  6. Backward walkover
  7. Forward walkover
  8. Full turn jump
  9. Wolf jump or hop
  10. Tuck jump
  11. Cat leap
  12. Headspring
